Failing to plan is planning to fail apparently.
So with that in mind… this is a rough idea of my plan… what do you think?
I’m a big guy, so I’m planning to shed a few kgs before hitting the pavement.
I’m currently around 123kgs. Or depending on what part of the world you live, 271lbs or 19.3st.
So it’s fair to say I’m not exactly channelling the current Olympic Champion Stephen Kiprotich who weighs in at around 56kg!! Serious 56kg!?! I think I last weighed that when I was ten – so I’ve decided this needs addressing.
With this in mind, the approach I plan to take is one I’m designing myself. It’s called The CSA™ (Common Sense Approach).
The CSA™ requires you to cut out the things you know most marathon runners probably don’t do (ie: sharing a bottle of wine with dinner every night) and increasing some of the things you know they probably do – in fact – do (ie: eat healthy).
I plan to lose at least 10kg before Christmas (so far the CSA™ has seen me lose just under 3kgs in two weeks) and then start running in the new year. The main reason for this is to reduce the likelihood of my running exacerbating any of my chronic footy injuries. (Honest kids… sport is good for you!)
I’m not rushing things. As I mentioned in my previous post the furthest I’ve run is 14km in the City 2 Surf. And that was three years ago.
So the marathon I’m aiming for is the Sydney Marathon in September 2016.
Prior to that, I aim to complete the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon in May 2016.
In order to build up to that I’ll run the pavements close to Haesler HQ and perhaps drop into one of these events.
